Self-recorded in a rented duplex over one winter, The Low Hours is rawer and faster than Porchlight — the sound of a band that had just quit their day jobs and had nothing left to lose on the tape. Still the one longtime fans ask for by name.

“Dee's amp caught a hum on half these tracks that we never fixed because fixing it cost money we didn't have. Sam played the whole record on a kit borrowed from a church three blocks over and gave it back the week we mixed it.
