Cold brew
Low and slow. Sweet, low-acid, and it keeps in the fridge for a week.
16–18 hours steep in the fridge — start it tonight, pour it tomorrow.
- Ratio
- 1:8 concentrate — 100 g coffee to 800 g cold water, diluted 1:1 to serve
- Grind
- Extra coarse, like peppercorns
- Water
- Room temperature or cold filtered water
- Time
- 16–18 hours steep
Steps
- 01
Combine
Add 100 g extra-coarse coffee to the jar. Pour in 800 g cold water and stir to saturate every ground.
- 02
Steep
Cover and steep at room temperature or in the fridge for 16–18 hours. Longer gets stronger, not more bitter — cold brew is forgiving that way.
- 03
Filter
Strain through the stainless filter, then again through a paper filter or cloth if you want it completely grit-free.
- 04
Store and dilute
The concentrate keeps refrigerated for up to a week. Serve over ice diluted roughly 1:1 with water or milk — start there and adjust to taste.
